I
f you’re planning a trip to Phi Phi Islands, a boat tour is a must! We booked the Big Island Tour through Get Your Guide, which took us to seven different spots. It was an action-packed day filled with some incredible highlights and a few disappointments.
The snorkeling spots were hands down the best part of the tour. The crystal-clear waters and colorful marine life made for an unforgettable experience. We were lucky enough to spot a baby reef shark at Shark Point, which was one of the day’s most exciting moments.
The day ended on a high note with a stunning and peaceful sunset over the water. Watching the sky change colors from the boat was absolutely magical and the perfect way to wind down after a full day of activities.
Maya Bay, famous for its beauty, was a bit of a disappointment. It was incredibly overcrowded, and we could barely move through the masses of people. We didn’t spot any sharks in the water either. While it’s a great place for taking photos, it’s hard to truly enjoy nature there with so many tourists.
At Monkey Beach, we had a bit of a wildlife adventure. You need to be careful with your belongings, as the monkeys can be aggressive. We even saw a monkey get into a fight with a woman over her water bottle!
Tour Package: aprox. $40 per person (includes lunch, snorkeling, boat ride)
Maya Bay Fee: $12 (400 THB)
Snacks/Drinks: $6-9 (200-300 THB)
Tipping: $3-6 (100-200 THB)
"Sun set in Krabi"
"Maya Bay"
Despite the crowd at Maya Bay and the cheeky monkeys at Monkey Beach, this tour was a fantastic way to explore the beauty of the Phi Phi Islands. The snorkeling alone makes it worth it if you’re a fan of marine life. Just be prepared for some tourist-heavy spots, and make sure to keep your belongings safe from the monkeys!
For budget travelers, this tour is a great value for the amount of sights and activities packed into one day. If you’re planning to visit the Phi Phi Islands, I’d recommend this tour—just manage your expectations when it comes to the more crowded spots like Maya Bay.
