TRAVEL TIPS

Accommodation – Finding the perfect place to stay in NYC can be a bit overwhelming, but here’s the trick—book early! If you’re looking to save some cash, skip the pricy Manhattan hotels and check out cool spots in Brooklyn, Queens, or even Jersey City. They’re more affordable and still close to the action, thanks to the subway. I also love boutique hotels and hostels for their unique charm and budget-friendly prices. Keep your eyes open for last-minute deals or Airbnb discounts, especially if you’re staying a while. And trust me, being near a subway line is a game-changer for getting around

Food – NYC is a foodie’s dream, with endless options to satisfy every craving! For breakfast, grab a classic New York bagel with cream cheese, or head to a local diner for a hearty start to the day. Don’t miss the city’s famous pizza—there’s nothing like a classic slice from a corner pizzeria. If you’re into diverse cuisines, explore the flavors of Chinatown for dim sum or head to Little Italy for an authentic pasta experience. For something unique, check out food markets like Chelsea Market or Smorgasburg for street food from around the world. Trust me, you’ll never go hungry here!

Safety and Health – NYC is generally safe, but stay aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded spots. Keep your belongings secure and be cautious at night in quieter areas. Tap water is safe to drink, so carry a refillable bottle. Wear comfy shoes for all the walking, and don’t forget travel insurance in case of any health issues. Stay smart, and enjoy your NYC adventure!

Transportation – Getting around NYC is easy with plenty of options. The subway is the fastest and most affordable way to travel, and it’ll take you almost anywhere you need to go. Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are also available, but can be more expensive during peak times. For short distances, consider walking—NYC is a very walkable city! Biking is another fun option, with plenty of Citi Bike stations around. And if you’re visiting nearby areas, ferries can offer scenic routes across the river.

Climate and Weather – NYC has all four seasons. Summers are hot and humid, so pack light clothes. Fall is crisp, perfect for layering. Winters can be cold. We experienced minus degrees and snow fall, so bring a warm coat. Spring is mild and ideal for sightseeing. Always check the weather before your trip to pack accordingly!

Suggested daily budget – A daily budget for NYC can range from $50 to $100 for budget travelers (hostels, street food, subway), $150 to $250 for mid-range travelers (3-star hotels, casual dining, subway and rideshares), and $300+ for luxury travelers (upscale hotels, fine dining, taxis). Adjust based on your style and preferences!
